Family Therapy

Family therapy consists of two or more individuals in a family. The goal of family therapy is to reduce distress and conflict by improving the systems of interconnection between family members. Family therapy may be the focus of all therapy sessions, or often, a family member may come to an individual’s session to work on relationship dynamics, but it may not be the sole focus of therapy. Often times, it can be helpful to include family members (parents, siblings, children) in therapy sessions in order to work directly and together on the dynamics that are negatively impacting the relationship or family structure.
